Saudi Arabia Hospital Refurbishment

V B Johnson were appointed as quantity surveyors and cost consultants for a fast-track multi-million pound refurbishment programme of hospital and associated on-site residential and ancillary accommodation at thirteen hospital complexes situated at various locations in the Kingdom.

The commission included preparation of budget costings and reports for approval by the Ministry of Health and full Bills of Quantities for the complete refurbishment and upgrading works.

City College, Sheffield

  • Client: Sheffield College

V B Johnson LLP were appointed as quantity surveyors and cost managers for the redevelopment of the existing Castle College in the centre of Sheffield.

Primarily a new build project, the facility comprised a 9-storey teaching block, canteens, lecture theatres, learning resource centres, catering facilities, sports halls, administration facilities and full external works. The construction works were carried out in phases with the existing campus facilities kept operational until students and staff could be decanted into the new facilities.

Roof-mounted wind turbines, photovoltaic panels, sophisticated natural ventilation, district heat and power supplies, and on-site composting are all incorporated in the development to give the project a high BREEM rating.

New Build Housing Programme 2012-2015

  • Client: City of Bradford Metropolitan Council
  • Project Value: £16 million
  • Services Provided: Employer's Agent and cost management
  • Location: West Yorkshire

V B Johnson LLP are appointed as Employer's Agent and and cost managers for the Council's programme for the provision of new build social housing across four sites in the Bradford area in West Yorkshire.

Sustainability is a key issue for the project with the works designed to a minimum Code 4 of the Code for Sustainable Housing.

Full Employer's Agents' and Cost management services are being provided with particular emphasis on preparation of detailed cost estimates including life cycle costings and advice on alternative specifications as appropriate.

Roof Condition Surveys

  • Client: Britvic Soft Drinks Ltd
  • Project Value: N/a
  • Services Provided: Building surveying and cost consultancy
  • Location: UK - Nationwide

V B Johnson were appointed to carry out full roof condition surveys for Britvic Soft Drinks Ltd at all their UK manufacturing and distribution plants. Using truck-mounted platforms capable of providing working heights up to 50m every roof was surveyed in detail to determine their condition and the necessary repair, remedial and replacement works needed to ensure proper performance in the following years.

Costs were prepared for the required works and budgets produced allocated into immediate, medium-term and long-term categories.
